Monterey, Virginia. First show of the year! This double weekend show usually as one weekend of high winds and snow. These days have inspired crafters to adopt the motto: "If we can survive Monterey, we can survive anything!"

***Me and Monterey~~Our great-grandfather joined the army the old fashioned way—he was drafted. His name, by the way, was George See Pope.
He “joined up” in Monterey the first week in 1863. He served with Company I, 62nd Mounted Virginia Infantry, a regiment that was a part of the Northwestern Brigade (of the Army of Northern Virginia) under General John Imboden. He returned home with his rifle which meant, he never surrender but simply went home.
He mustered into the Confederate army right at the Court House where I sell my pottery. I find this amazing cool!
